ARDGOWAN Hospice invites members of the community to remember loved ones by attending its Light Up A Life service at Westburn Church, Nelson Street, Greenock on Sunday (3 December) at 6.30pm.

The service of remembrance will culminate with the switch-on of thousands of lights on a 60-foot tree, in celebration of the lives of family and friends at this special time of year.

The theme of the service is light and will include an address by Sheena MacFarlane, OBE. Singing will be led by the hospice choir.

This year sees the introduction of a personal message of reflection which can be written on a special star either to be hung at home or on the tree in the day hospice.

Last year the Light Up A Life dedications and donations raised enough money to support patients in their homes with 354 home visits from specialist community nurses.

Ian Marshall, acting chief executive, Ardgowan Hospice, said: “The hospice understands that this time of year can be hard for those who have lost loved ones. We invite the Inverclyde community to dedicate a light to someone they care for or take some time to attend our special service.”

The appeal is still open and donations can be made online at www.ardgowanhospice.org.uk. Forms are also available in the Oak Mall, local libraries and from the hospice reception.
