NEW singers are welcome in all sections of Greenock Philharmonic Choir.
The group has resumed rehearsals on Monday nights at 7.15 at Lyle Kirk, Union Street, working towards a performance in March of Brahms’s A German Requiem.
Anybody interested in joining should contact Lynne MacMillan at 07802 780468, or email info@greenockphilharmonic.co.uk.
Music reading is helpful but not essential. More information is available on the choir’s website and on Facebook page.
The choir was joined at its Christmas concert in Lyle Kirk by Riverside Youth Band, led by Mark Good, and children’s choir Angel Voices, led by Michael Hepburn.
The programme included favourite seasonal choral works, carols for the audience to sing, as well as more recent songs.
The choir were excited to perform the beautiful arrangement of The Christ Child’s Lullaby from Sir James MacMillan’s Christmas Oratorio, and were delighted to welcome the composer himself to the performance.
Musical director Nicholas Wilks said: “The concert was a tremendous success, and our large and enthusiastic audience clearly loved it.
“I was especially impressed by the consistency of everything, and the palpable commitment behind everything we sang.”
