ATTEMPTED Murder Of Man At Greenock Pub

DETECTIVES are appealing for information after the attempted murder of a 60-year-old man in a Greenock town centre pub.

The incident happened around 6.30pm on Tuesday at the James Watt in Cathcart Street, Greenock.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, for treatment where medical staff describe his condition as serious.

Detective Inspector Nicky Beattie said: “The family of the man are being supported by police and being kept up to date with the ongoing investigation. I am appealing to anyone that can help with our investigation to come forward.

“We believe there were a number of people within the premises at the time and I would appeal to anyone who was there on Tuesday night to speak to us if they have not already done so.”
