PostHeaderIcon FOOTBALL -- Gourock YAC Match Reports

Under-15s -- Barrhead 2 -- Gourock YAC 0

This was a disappointing result considering the game could have gone either way for much of the time. YAC battled throughout but on the day just couldn't find the net despite having chances in both halves. Best for YAC were Lee Rodgers and Robbie McAlpine who both gave an excellent performance. Team are away to East End in a league game this Saturday. Thanks to sponsors Emaintain and Inverclyde Council.

Under-16s -- Gourock YAC 4 -- Clark Drive 3

Gourock produced their best league performance of the season against the Scottish Cup holders in a thrilling encounter. Early on there was little sign as Clark Drive were 3:1 ahead with only a McLarty penalty to show despite YAC playing well. Into the second half and Gourock's determination was rewarded with goals from McCourt, McLarty and the winner from Knight to stun the visitors. Impossible to pick a man of the match as every boy gave an outstanding performance with Jamieson, Kearns, Collins, Macquat, Roberts and Fisher catching the eye and Wrath and Houlihan giving stability. The whole team can feel proud of this display. Team have a free week this Saturday. Thanks to sponsors Chris Wright and Sons Ltd Demolition and Plant Hire, Lifetechnologies and Inverclyde Council.

Under 17s -- Gleniffer Thistle 6 -- Gourock YAC 1

The result does not tell the story of the game. YAC went two down quickly before settling into their stride. The midfield took control of the game and scored through James Docherty. YAC continued to press but 30 minutes into the game the team were reduced to 10 men after David Piggott suffered an injury and was not able to continue. Unfortunately, no subs were available so the team had to play the last 60 minutes with a man down. The team continued to press the game, however, tired in the latter stages and Gleniffer made the most of their chances. YAC lost three goals late on with no reply. Great effort by the whole team with Corey Nicolson being awarded referee's man of the match. The team have a home league game this Saturday against St Cadoc’s. Team thank sponsors Inverclyde Council.
