FOOTBALL -- Gourock YAC Match Reports
Under-15s
The game last week fell foul to the icy conditions. This week the under-15s are at home to East End in a League Cup match. These local derbys are always entertaining, especially with both teams sitting top of the league and drawing in a previous cup meeting. Both teams are having a good season and this will be a good display of local talent. The team thank sponsors Emaintain, Inverclyde Council
Under-16s -- Glenvale 2 - Gourock YAC 1
In a finely-balanced game, Gourock made a number of good scoring opportunities but failed to take full advantage and left pointless. Glenvale scored just before half time despite an outstanding performance from man of the match keeper Livingston. In the second half, YAC put up a battling performance in search of an equaliser but were caught on the break. To their credit the boys refused to give in and Kearns pulled one back but it was in the final minute and served as a consolation for an improved performance. Next Saturday is a rematch as Glenvale head down to Gourock and if YAC can create and, crucially, take their chances we should feel confident. Thanks to sponsors Chris Wright and Sons Ltd Demolition and Plant Hire, Lifetechnologies and Inverclyde Council
Under-17s -- St Cadoc’s 4 - Gourock YAC 0
This was a disappointing result despite YAC creating enough chances to take the points. St Cadoc’s were more clinical in front of goal, especially when YAC pushed forward to try for an equaliser. The result did not reflect the balance of the match. Referee's man of the match was Jordan Kimmins. The team have a free week this Saturday. Thanks to sponsors Inverclyde Council.
