Dashing Through The Park -- A total of 32 Beavers and Cubs from the 10th took part in the kids’ Santa dash held in the Battery Park to help raise money for Cash for Kids.
All participants received medals with Cub Paul Campbell also receiving a trophy for finishing triumphantly in 3rd place. Well done Paul, we are all proud of you! Click for bigger photos
Christmas Cheer For 42nd -- Cubs and Scouts from the 42nd had a busy weekend selling Christmas trees in Kilmacolm. The group had a fantastic turnout, selling almost 80 trees and selling out on both days. The youngsters helped many villagers by carrying their trees straight to their front door – free of charge. A great effort in quite bad weather. As well as the tree selling, the group held a Christmas craft fair in the Scout Hall on Barr’s Brae with all sorts of arts and crafts for sale. Well done to all involved and a big thank you to those who came to buy a tree.

Meanwhile Beavers from the 42nd have decorated a tree for the annual Kilmacolm Old Kirk Christmas Tree Festival. The theme carol of the Beaver tree this year is “Ding Dong Merrily on High”. The Beavers wrote their Christmas wishes on pieces of paper which were then turned into paper chains around the tree. It also features bells, musical notes and images of each of the Beaver Leaders as angels – well of course they are! The Beavers won this competition last year but are up against stiff competition this year with around 21 trees on show. Donations at the festival this year are going to Erskine charity for veterans. The Festival runs until Saturday 17 December. Pictured, left, are Beaver Leader Stuart Wilson and Beaver Jamie Campbell at the 42nd’s submission for this year’s Christmas Tree Festival.

District Parties A Great Success -- Hundreds of Beavers and Cubs from all round Greenock and District took part in the annual district Christmas parties at the weekend. There were lots of fun activities for everybody including games, a nativity play and turning the leader into a snowman! Thanks to everybody who helped organise such great events, especially the ADCs Beavers and Cubs.
Carol Singing for Charity -- Leaders and Network members should note that the annual leaders carol singing event will take place (weather permitting) on Sunday 18 December starting at 7pm, meeting at District HQ. The event should finish by 9pm, with hopefully a healthy sum of money raised for charity. Remember and wrap up well.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Scout Notes. See you again on Saturday 14 January 2012.
