SPONSORED Walk Benefits Residents At Dementia Unit
SEVERAL golfers from the Whinhill Golf Club walked to Largs to raise funds for the Lady Alice Dementia Care Unit in the Larkfield View care home, Greenock.
Over the past few years, the club has organised a sponsored walk from Whinhill to Largs to raise money for the club’s centenary fund. Now that the club’s centenary year is over, the committee decided to continue the tradition with money raised every year going towards a charity.

Golfers present the cheque to some of the residents -- Frank Haughey, Mina Erskine and Hugh Dick-- with some of the staff -- Sara Horne, Teresa McDonald, Margaret Ann O’ Connor and Pearl Cochrane -- in attendance.
A total of £800 was raised which will help the Lady Alice Unit run a couple of extra outings and activities and help towards upgrading their kitchen and dining room facilities.
Teresa McDonald from the unit said she was delighted and very grateful for the amount of money given and that it would make a significant contribution to residents’ quality of living.
Special thanks to the club, Sharon McCauley for providing a meal for the walkers and to Frank McNeill and Hardies Coaches for providing the bus back.
The following golfers took part in the sponsored walk: John Donald, David Ellis, John Ellis, Gary Havlin, Alan Hendry, Craig Keir, Ian McDermid, Robert McDonald, Archie McWhinnie, David Pearson, John Sorley.
