PostHeaderIcon LIGHTS, Camera, Action! At River City Set For Pupils

YOUNG people from Inverclyde Academy wrote their own drama scene and then filmed it at the BBC’s River City set in Dumbarton.

The pupils were taking part in a video project run by L.A.B (learn @ BBC Scotland) in conjunction with the soap opera’s crew.

Firstly the Inverclyde Academy group had an intensive two-day workshop experience at their school with the L.A.B team.

One group worked with River City writer Chris Dolan, a second group worked with a TV director and actress Libby McArthur (who plays Gina in the show) and the third group learned camera skills.

The young people wrote their own scene and created characters. They filmed their drama on the soap opera’s set using actors from the school and Libby. Much of the action took place in the programme's Oyster Cafe.

They are also making a behind-the-scenes documentary about their experience capturing the hard work and fun which went into the making.

There will be a premiere of their film at the BBC in Glasgow later this month and it will also go on the L.A.B website after that date
