GRIDLOCK After Crash Involving Police Car And Lorry -- More Details Released By Police
A POLICE officer and two other men were taken to hospital after a crash on the A8 between Langbank Roundabout and Woodhall Roundabout, Port Glasgow.
Police were called to a report of a breakdown on the westbound carriageway of the A8 between Langbank and Port Glasgow around 2.30pm. Whilst this incident was being dealt with by traffic officers, a second traffic car - a Ford Mondeo - being driven by a 33-year-old traffic officer, stopped to assist his colleagues. Whilst his vehicle was sitting stationary it was struck by a lorry from behind.
The lorry then crashed through the central barrier and ended up on the other carriageway.
The two occupants of the Ford Mondeo, the 33-year-old traffic officer and his passenger, a 57 year-old colleague from VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) were taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries then released following treatment. The 28 year-old lorry driver was also taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital, but did not require any treatment.
Both carriageways were closed for several hours whilst enquiries into the crash were carried out.

Vehicles were diverted on to the back road from Langbank and the Kilmacolm Road from Port Glasgow leading to major tailbacks.
