AMERICAN Football -- Phoenix Open Training To Adults
INVERCLYDE’S only American football team are gearing up for their new season.
The Youth team -- for 14 to 16-year-olds -- are preparing to take on the reigning British Champions Highland Wildcats plus East Kilbride, Edinburgh, Clyde Valley and Glasgow.
The Junior team – for 16 to 19-year-olds -- are preparing to trial a new, exciting, eight-a-side version of football against the Wildcats and Longhorns.
These games will be faster-paced than the normal 11-a-side and allow for more teams to participate nationally because of the smaller squad sizes.
Phoenix are now expanding to provide for adults wanting to play the game. Those who have fancied trying the sport but don't want to travel outside the district or don't want to commit to a full season, are welcome to go along and train with the Phoenix, learn the basic skills and techniques.
