SCOUT Group’s Car Wash -- THE 70th Scouts and Finnart Explorer Unit are holding a car wash on Saturday (25 February) in the grounds of Lyle Kirk’s Newark Street building, Greenock, from 10am to 1pm. Proceeds from this will be shared between Group and Unit Funds. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided priced from £1.
COASTAL Rowing Talk -- GREENOCK Philosophical Society hold the last lecture of their season on Friday (24 February) in the Watt Hall of the McLean Museum, Kelly Street, Greenock, at 7.30pm. Ian Clark will talk about the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association. The talk, which will be followed by the society’s annual general meeting, is open to visitors on payment of £1.50 at the door.
STEDFAST Band Performance -- THE Stedfast Band feature in Wellpark Mid Kirk’s latest “Music for a Sunday Afternoon” event this Sunday at 3pm in the church at Cathcart Square, Greenock. Donation tickets are £3 and tea is included.
AUCHMOUNTAIN Centre Activities -- AUCHMOUNTAIN Community Centre in Burnhead Street, Greenock is offering a range of classes and activities. At Learning Bytes on a Friday morning from 10am to noon people can go along and open up a free email or social media account or can learn something specific such as how to make up a CV. There is also a Job Skills class on a Tuesday morning to help to get people back to work. Other classes include Active Lifestyles and Kettlebell Fitness. For young people there is a club on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30 to 9pm. AIR Training Corps AGM -- THE annual general meeting of the Civilian Committee of the 49F Air Training Corps, will take place on Thursday 15 March at 7.15pm in the RAF Club, Ardgowan Square, Greenock. All parents, friends and interested parties are invited to attend.
PORT Glasgow Tattoo Parlour Plan -- PERMISSION is being sought to change the use of premises at 58 Princes Street, Port Glasgow, from a shop to a tattoo parlour. The application is pending consideration by Inverclyde Council planning department.

GOUROCK Takeaway Application -- PERMISSION is being sought to turn a small shop at 63 Kempock Street, Gourock into a hot food take-away outlet. The premises have most recently been occupied by the Designs By Lucy jewellery store. The application is being considered by Inverclyde Council planning department.
LARKFIELD Play Area Plan -- INVERCLYDE Council have applied for permission in principle to create a play area on land next to Upper Larkfield Community Hall, Lothian Road, Greenock. The application is being considered by the planning department.
TATTOO Studio Tries For Retrospective Permission -- A TATTOO studio which opened in a former shop at 117 West Blackhall Street, Greenock without getting change-of-use permission is applying for retrospective consent. The application is being considered by Inverclyde Council planning department.
GOUROCK Bowling Club’s Introductory Class -- GOUROCK Bowling Club have introduced a new class of membership this year. Introductory Class is designed to allow beginners to be full bowling members for a season at a reduced fee to try out the sport, with qualified coaches on hand to advise. PUBLICATION Of Newspaper Suspended -- CLYDE And Forth Press have suspended publication of their free newspaper Inverclyde Extra, blaming the economic downturn. The company have been publishing a weekly free paper since the late 1980s; the Inverclyde Extra’s predecessor was the Clyde Post.
