GALLERY And Studio Plan For Empty Gourock Offices

12 April, 2024 | Local

VACANT office accommodation in Gourock town centre could be brought back into use as exhibition and workshop space.

Permission is being sought to turn former council premises at Kempock Place into a gallery, on the ground floor, with a studio on the first floor.

The building adjoins the old police station.

The application has been made by Stephen Henry of Henry Enterprises Ltd.

A statement submitted to Inverclyde Council explains: “Our plan is to provide a facility which enables one artist at a time to create an exhibition of their work over a one-week period (or more, and given the opportunity some artists may offer elements of their work for sale).”

The upstairs space would be offered to creatives and community groups on a monthly rental basis.

A proposal to convert the former police station into a business centre was approved last year.
