MORTON Support For Tall Ships Race
GREENOCK Morton FC is throwing its support behind next year’s Tall Ships Races, which will come to Greenock between 9 and 12 July 2011, by displaying a Tall Ships banner at the Cappielow stadium.

Visiting supporters from as far as Dingwall will have the opportunity to pencil the date of the Tall Ships Races in their diaries, encouraging them to come back to Greenock to experience what is shaping up to be a carnival on water.
The event, based at James Watt Dock, is set to attract hundreds of thousands of people from across Scotland throughout the four days and will feature dozens of vessels from Norway to as far away as Russia.

Morton chairman Douglas Rae and Councillor David Wilson
Cllr David Wilson, chairman of Sail Inverclyde Ltd said: “This is a golden opportunity to help remind not only locals but also visiting supporters when the Tall Ships Races 2011 is scheduled to take place.
“We want to encourage people from across the country to come back to Greenock and experience this remarkable event. We are delighted that Greenock Morton FC has provided us with their support and we hope that we can persuade those who visit the area to support their team to come back next year and cheer on the teams on the water.”
Douglas Rae, chairman of Greenock Morton said: “Greenock Morton is very pleased that the Tall Ships will be returning to Greenock next year and we are honoured that our club will be involved assisting and supporting the organisers.
“I believe that it is appropriate that Greenock, a town with a long history in shipbuilding, should be involved once again with the Tall Ships races. Greenock, particularly the shopkeepers, will be delighted to welcome visitors to the town from far and wide.
“Hopefully the weather will be kind to us so that visitors will be able to view the wonderful scenery that abounds.”
