Back when I used to repair computers for people in their houses, I noticed something odd sometimes, writes David Lyon.

When dealing with a female, you could pull their system back from the brink of destruction; you could put the flames out with your bare fists; you could scare a virus off with a stern gaze...

... and they wouldn't be impressed.

"Oh, is that it? Okay."

However, after these feats, if you were to, oh I don't know... make the background image pink... then you were a genius. If you make the taskbar pink, you were walking on water. Being prepared for everything, I eventually added a folder to my pen drive called "Pink" dedicated exclusively to pink backgrounds and Windows themes for these complex situations.

It was an audience favourite.

Being under no illusions as to who really wears the pants, I humbly offer this article to make all of your desktops and taskbars pink for your pleasure.

Step 1: Your background

The key to having a nice desktop background is having an image large enough to fill the screen without having to stretch it too much. When you stretch it, you start to get pixellation. You wouldn't want a pixellated picture on your wall, why have it on your computer?

To set any of these as your desktop, simply right-click the large image and select "Set as Background":

Step 2: Pink Glass in Windows 7

For those of you in Windows 7, you can colour the glass effect to be pink as well.

Right-click on a blank area of your Desktop, and select "Personalize":

Next, select "Window Color" from the bottom of the next window

Then, select the nice bright Pink colour square, and use the slider to set how vibrant it is. Something like this will avoid giving you headaches:

When you've found your perfect colour and shade, select "Save Changes", and it's all yours.
