IT was just a few months ago I was last at the James Watt Dock Sugar Sheds for the Tall Ships event, writes Ashley Baxter.
The texture and rich colours didn't escape me, and I knew it would be a great location to shoot at. In fact, I think it's currently my favourite spot to shoot in Inverclyde.
Unfortunately the day we chose proved to be fairly drizzly and overcast, but if I waited for the Scottish sun to shine before shooting, I'd have a very thin portfolio of photos.
My subject was Laurence Deveney, a musician from Gourock. Laurence plays drums for bands as well as teaching it at various high schools. I first met him during the summer when he drummed at a wedding I was a bridesmaid at. I think he bears a resemblance to Gerard Butler, which is no bad thing, so I knew it wouldn't be long before I roped him into having his photo taken.
