ALL Aboard For Weekend Fun
RANGERS at Finlaystone Country Estate, Langbank, on what's happening at the local beauty spot.
Now that we are into June, Finlaystone Estate is looking lovely. The flowers are out in the gardens, the trees in the woodlands are in full leaf and there are plenty of birds and other animals around to listen and watch for.
The weekends haven’t brought us the best weather over the past few weeks, but we have still been welcoming plenty of visitors who want to come and stroll through our woods, admire the gardens or play in the play areas. During the working week we are particularly busy with school and nursery visits. Primary school classes enjoy visiting and taking part in educational walks with our Rangers, where they learn about plants, animals, mini-beasts, and other exciting (and mucky) things.
Preparations are in full swing for our events this weekend. The Youth Section of Greenock Players are putting on an outdoor adaptation of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ on Saturday evening. We are looking forward to their interpretation of the classic Shakespeare play. We know that people will be bringing picnics and refreshments to enjoy on the grass while watching the show. On Sunday we will be having an afternoon of fun and games with ‘Pirate Kingdom’. Hopefully there will be lots of young (and old) pirates visiting us for a swashbuckling afternoon.
