PostHeaderIcon CLYDE Coastguard Incident Round-Up For Saturday 18 February 2012


A ROUND-up of incidents handled from the Clyde Coastguard co-ordination centre in Greenock on Saturday18 February

2.16pm -- Clyde Coastguard received a call from the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry Isle of Mull reporting that they had suffered damage to the bow following a collision with the pier at Oban. The vessel had 177 persons on board at the time. All passengers were landed safely at Oban with no injuries reported.

5.20pm
-- Clyde Coastguard tasked the Luss Rescue Boat to the assistance of two persons in a rowing boat being swept out into the middle of Loch Lomond by strong winds. The boat made it ashore unaided before the rescue boat got on scene.

5.26pm -- Arran Coastguard Rescue Team manned the landing site for the Air Ambulance helicopter which was evacuating a NHS patient from Arran to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.

11.27pm -- Helensburgh Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to assist the police dealing with a male threatening to jump from King George V Bridge in Glasgow. The team were stood down before arriving on scene after the police managed to safely remove the male from the bridge.
