CLYDE Coastguard Incident Round-Up For Wednesday 18 January 2012
A ROUND-up of incidents handled from the Clyde Coastguard co-ordination centre in Greenock on Wednesday 18 January
9.12am -- Clyde Coastguard tasked Greenock Coastguard Rescue Team and Clyde Sector Manager to assisted Strathclyde Police in the search for a missing person in the Greenock area. Following a thorough search a body was recovered by police divers from Victoria Harbour. News Article
12.28pm -- Clyde Coastguard monitored the 10,000 ton, Isle of Man registered, chemical tanker Ledastern after they suffered engine failure 15 nautical miles west of Tiree. The vessel, which was carrying more than 8,000 tons of petrol, carried out repairs and resumed her passage to Londonderry.
2.20pm -- Clyde Coastguard tasked Coastguard Rescue Teams from Tarbert, Carradale and Arran, Rescue Helicopter 177, Arran and Campbeltown Lifeboats to search for yachtsman after his yacht was found drifting at the north end of the island of Arran. Following an extensive search, with nothing found, the search was suspended until first light. BBC Coverage
7.43pm -- Clyde Coastguard tasked Helensburgh Coastguard Rescue Team, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue and Strathclyde Police following a report of a person in the Clyde at the Millennium Bridge, Glasgow. The casualty was recovered from the water and taken to hospital.
