CLYDE Coastguard Incident Round-Up For Tuesday 10 January 2012
A ROUND-up of incidents handled from the Clyde Coastguard co-ordination centre in Greenock on Tuesday 10 January
3.49pm -- Clyde Coastguard arranged the transfer of an injured crewman from the Offshore Support Vessel North Sea Giant. Rescue Helicopter 177 transferred the crewman from a position in the north of the Irish Sea to the Southern General Hospital, Glasgow.
3.56pm -- Clyde Coastguard tasked Gigha Coastguard Team and the fishing vessel Blue Angel to assist the fishing vessel Highland Queen, with three persons on board, after it suffered engine failure and started taking on water. The vessel was towed to Tayinloan.
4.12pm -- Clyde Coastguard initiated a search for an overdue diver from the fishing vessel Atlantia at the north end of the Sound of Mull. Following an intensive search by Coastguard Rescue Teams from Kilchoan, Salen and Tobermory, Rescue Helicopter 100, Tobermory Lifeboat and several other local vessels, the casualty was located safe and well at Maclean's Nose on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. The casualty was transferred to Connel by the helicopter which was met by Oban Coastguard Rescue Team and an ambulance. The diver was confirmed fit and well and allowed home.
