CLYDE Coastguard Incident Round-Up For Thursday 29 December 2011
A ROUND-up of incidents handled from the Clyde Coastguard co-ordination centre in Greenock on Monday 26 December
10.44am -- Clyde Coastguard received a 999 report of a small cabin cruiser aground in Cardwell Bay. Greenock Coastguard Rescue team was tasked to investigate. The boat was believed to have broken its moorings and sunk.
3.24pm -- Clyde Coastguard received a call from ambulance control of a car in the River Doon, with occupants, at Hollybush. Ayr Coastguard Rescue Team was diverted from patrol to attend. The occupants were rescued by the attending Fire rescue unit and then taken to hospital by ambulance for a check up.
6.44pm -- Clyde Coastguard received a call from the ferry Clansman that one of their passengers had sighted three red flares between Ardnamurchan Point and the Isle of Coll. Coastguard Rescue Teams from Coll and Kilchoan were tasked to investigate and Clyde Coastguard put out an Urgency broadcast for vessels in the vicinity. Following extensive investigations, no source was identified and nothing further was sighted.
7.56pm -- Clyde Coastguard tasked Port Charlotte Coastguard Rescue Team to prepare the landing site on Islay for a medical evacuation by the Royal Navy Rescue Helicopter, Rescue 177 from Prestwick.
