Clyde Coastguard Report -- Tuesday 13 December

 

12.51am -- Clyde Coastguard received a call from Strathclyde Fire and Rescue reporting they were attending a person in the water at the Albert Bridge, Glasgow. Helensburgh Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked but before the team got under the way three males had been taken into police custody. All units were stood down.

11.35am
-- Clyde Coastguard set up a communications schedule with the passenger ferry Hebridean Isles after it suffered failure of its starboard engine. The vessel proceeded under one engine towards Tobermory for shelter from the storm force winds it was experiencing at the time. Engineers managed to fix the engine as the vessel was approaching Craignure, Isle of Mull and the vessel is now safely alongside in Craignure where it will remain overnight.

2.09pm
-- Following a call from Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, Clyde Coastguard tasked Lochgoil and Inveraray Coastguard Rescue Teams to assist two people trapped in a vehicle, in approximately three feet of water at the Aray Bridge, near Inveraray Castle. The vehicle had been sitting at the traffic lights when it was swamped by waves coming over the road during storm conditions. Both occupants and their vehicle were recovered without injury by Coastguards, Fire and Rescue and Police Officers in attendance.

9.32pm -- Clyde Coastguard received a call from Strathclyde Fire and Rescue reporting they were attending a male threatening to jump into the water off Brymner Street, Greenock. Helensburgh RNLI Lifeboat and Greenock Coastguard Rescue team were paged but before any units departed the male was recovered from the water by Strathclyde Fire and Rescue.
